Protector Of Synthesis
Serene | Focused | Despondent
Everyday I put all my efforts into creating potions to help and be useful to my beloved family, and everyday I steel my heart against the hole deep inside, unable to give voice to it. I love my new family, but the deep-rooted fear inside ever tries to claw it's way out; how long before they are disgusted with me? Isaria has always been mute. And it's the source of all her pain and trauma she carries from when she was a hatchling. Everyone in the Clan cares for her dearly in some way, but despite their best efforts they can never quite manage to banish the darkness that lingers within her. They know better than to bring it up, as many of the Clan's members have such pains themselves, but they long for the day when she won't push herself so hard to try and prove herself when she already had long ago. The only one who has every came close to getting Isaria to letting down her walls all the way is Shaw, and because of that many of the Clan's members turn to Shaw whenever they see Isaria particularly forlorn, as she seems to be the only real light in her life besides Fotia, her ever faithful Goblin Familiar. HISTORY
Isaria came just after the Clan moved to the Mirrorlight Promenade. Originally, she was just staying at the Clan as she researched the natural flora of the Sunbeam Ruins, quickly gaining friends with the other scientists and naturalists of the Clan. She had just come out of her hatchlinghood by then, but despite being a Fire Dragon at heart, she couldn't help but fall in love with the Sunbeam Ruins, and more specifically, Clan Paladin. She was the first of many to be hatched in that Clan, her Birth Clan, and she loved it. Maybe not so much the Clan itself, as she was... not treated as well as she could have been, with her disability, but she loved the Ashfall Waste. But, even so, with her nameless mother and her father with his temper and clear loathe towards her because of her impairement, she... she just couldn't. She had to leave. Isaria traveled across Sornieth, following the one passion she gained from her one visit to Baldwin; the art of creating something new from something old. No, for her, it wasn't Alchemy as a whole; it was Potion Making. Traveling through the Flights, she gathered all the knowledge she could about the flora and fauna, creating new potions and bettering existing ones. She created potions that cured illnesses, healed mortal wounds, even dispelled curses. |
Throughout her travels, she never stayed in a single place longer than a week. That was the one rule she made herself; so she could never be tempted to stay any longer, no matter what. She just couldn't handle another heartbreak; she could handle the loneliness, not that she was completely alone. At some point, she befriended Fotia, a Blazing Goblin, and her one permanent companion. Well, that is, until she came upon Clan Paladin. In the beginning, she was staying there as she did with any other hospitable Clan, any that were at least mildly accepting of her communication through either Fotia, her Goblin, or by writing in her notebook. She kept to herself as much as possible, made sure she didn’t overstay the welcome, and tried not to become attached with the Clan or its members. Because, she knew, that despite it all, once she became attached it would be hard to let go. Which would make it so much worse and hurt so much more once she left. So, she tried to stay away from everything about the Clan, only returning to sleep. It wasn’t until the final day that she wavered. |
And it was thanks to Blossom and Belledonus. The two happened to chance upon her collecting different plants, and when she wrote her explanation that it was for her potions, they both grew excited. Before she knew it, she was surrounded by Dragons in the Clan’s Herb Gardens, chatting about different plants and their uses. And… she was happy. She was happy, and not lonely, and she was afraid. Afraid that, as they all talked easily with her, not even seeming to mind her socially awkwardness nor her inability to speak, that she would want to stay. And she couldn’t, she couldn’t, because she would be disappointed and then she would have to leave again… right? That night, as she was invited to eat with the Clan in the Grand Hall, as she was surrounded by Dragons who treated her like one of their own, who were kind to her… She decided to give it a try. The next day, when she gathered the courage to tell Milithinal and Galiwyth she wanted to stay, they didn’t hesitate to say yes. And she never left. |

The lore is chef’s kiss on this one! I can’t help but feel for Isaria, seeing how her trauma has affected her. Speaking of which, you seem to have done that wonderfully; despite never directly stating what her past trauma was, I was able to piece together my own image of it from her personal insecurities and behaviors; something I’d imagine many others have done with many other different interpretations as well! Wonderfully done!

isaria takes comfort in routine, and regularly sets time aside for tea, often using herbal blends curated towards improving her mood or soothing mild ailments. shaw often joins her for this, allowing the two moments of quiet comfort with only one another for company.
...i did not read your post that also involved tea before this. well. guess it's on the mind for both of us!
