Origins I. >>

Seren’s earliest memories are full of laughter. Granted, they were the laughter of malicious wisps who thought it was humorous to lure dragons to their deaths, but laughter still it was. And besides, they took a liking to her after watching her hatching. They called themselves her keepers, and raised her as well as metaphysical creatures with no concept of time or mortality could.

With her odd childhood, she took little notice when the whispers started. Her life was already filled with noises and visions. What was one more sound she couldn’t pinpoint to a location? But slowly the whispers turned into words, and she started to notice the difference between them and the wisps. There were playful tauntings of a sort, but not the same. No, this being was different, full of a purpose she could only imagine, and she was determined to find it.

She bid farewell to the wisps who gave her suggestions on how to drown her own dragons if needed before wandering off again somewhere in the fog. It was as good a goodbye as she was going to receive. Instead she focused on the whispers as they guided her deeper into the Bramble. It was a twisted path, and the farther away she went, the stranger the world around her became. But she was never one to back down from a challenge, and who knew where the voice would lead her.
