"Now you see me..." A natural at magic, Haze has always excelled at slight of hand and the creation of illusions. Occasionally he can accomplish his deceptions without any magic whatsoever, but magic always adds an extra touch of realism that helps to fool his audience. He is especially talented at the art of escapism and boasts that no prison could ever contain him. He was never very good with money and always lived beyond his means, so when he fell into debt, some less than savory "friends" convinced him to use his talents for robbery. Though his magical abilities helped him evade the authorities for some time, eventually the law caught up with him. Knowing that imprisonment was a futile punishment for someone with his skill set, the clan leader instead exiled Haze. Dismayed to be cast adrift without any friends or references and greatly humbled by his experiences, Haze chanced upon a traveling fortuneteller who called herself Madame Mist. Unasked for, she read both runes and cards for him, then declared that they were destined to be together and that their future would unfold on the island of Prufrock. A bit abashed by her yet somewhat flattered that she apparently found him attractive, he decided to accompany her and see what this island might have in store for him. Though he has been treated with kindness by most of the clan's residents, Haze knows that some of them must be aware of his checkered past - the island isn't so far away from his home clan, after all. The resident "former" thief keeps giving him sideways glances as if appraising him for a role in a future heist, but Haze is determined that he won't repeat his past mistakes. Instead, he contents himself with doing magic shows for the island's residents and keeping the hatchlings entertained. He and his mate have also taken it upon themselves to assist the out-of-time coatl couple Fiorello and Speranza with adjusting to life in the present day. Original lore by Salathielly |
