000000000The wind blew softly, bringing Cephissus back from the realm of dreams. The forest slumbered around her, not yet yielding to the light of dawn that brought activity to the creatures laying within. She slowly lifted herself up from her bed of leaves, making only the slightest noise. Her head perked up at the sound of a branch breaking. The day had come, and the creatures were now flourishing. With a heavy flap of her wings, Cephissus was above the trees. She looked down to see the clearing in which she lay each night, smiling at the memories of warmth and the sounds of the forest around her. With a tut, her feet hit the soft ground as she balanced herself, now ready to perform the day's activities. She began her usual routine, scavenging for food and helping the woodland creatures who had become so accustomed to her. As quick as the day came, it was gone. With another flap of her wings, Cephissus was up above the trees once again. Heading back to her home, she froze when she saw something in the fading sun. There was a bright light in the distance, a beacon that shone like a pillar into the sky. Turning towards it, Cephissus knew that whatever was in the distance was more important than her bed and the creatures of her home.
