He arrived in Thorim Rift as a youth, practically too young to have been on his own yet, but that did not stop Riviel from making as much success as he could in this place of stone and metal and electricity. Growing up on the streets, he's been a thief for as long as he can remember, and that hasn't stopped now that he's reached his peak. In life, and in pirating. Though stealing an airship freshly completed right out of its yard--that will be tough to compete. Still, Riviel rules his skies, and his ship, with the same deceptively gentle but bloodied hand.

The perpetual thunderstorm bothers him immensely because he cannot see the sky. Any normal storm would be fine, noted and watched, but fine. This constant wall of circling clouds, however, Riviel just cannot stand, so he chose to live in the western mostly uncovered half of the city. On days when the Stormcatcher's storm overwhelm the whole city, he's gone. It's not fear that vexes him; he just doesn't like it. And yet the captain will have his airship flown right into the storm in order to absorb enough power for long-distance flights. To his crew, Riviel is an enigma since his utter dislike of the storm is not a secret. But he is an enigma worth following, even if it is straight into the storm.

Recent ventures and wealth has stirred Riviel to construct himself a more permanent home, one where others of his like-minded nature can gather in relative safety, so long as they don't tick one another off too badly. He found the plot of land and began Torque with his own money, and kindly extorts business owners and the like for a chance at operating within his town's boarders. It's proving to be a lucrative business, and Riviel enjoys the sense of being not only Captain but King. Or so he fancies. So far no one has bothered to try and knock him off that particular high-horse. But considering the sort of bodyguard-like crew he has, it's little wonder to that.
