The Royales are a breed of dragon that populate the bright coral reefs and warm waters of The Sea of a Thousand Currents. A small subspecies, their specialty lies in study and research. They are very intelligent dragons, and are a close knit family. When a hatchling has grown into an adult, they are rewarded with a tome, which they are then required to fill with their own personal research and findings. The Royales mostly stick to the sea, although they have been known to venture onto land. Shunning outsiders, Royales mostly keep to themselves, and only venture to meet outsiders when it is absolutely necessary.

Although they are water dragons, they worship the Arcanist, the deity closely associated with knowledge, wisdom and learning. Because of this they are often persecuted by other water dragons who worship the Tidelord and see Royales as a threat to their religious practices. In spite of the persecution, Royales are not aggressive dragons, and when threatened, prefer to hide instead of fight.
