Biography

To acquire knowledge, one must study; but to acquire wisdom, one must observe.
▬▬▬▬▬▬

A vividly-colored light-born dragon, Tieamat’s origins and background are largely unknown. The young nocturne appeared at the edge of the clan’s territory one day, hungry and alone. She had no knowledge of her parents or her clan of birth, though her eyes suggested she had roamed to the arcane realm from the Sunbeam Ruins. Taking pity on the young dragon, Sealbryili took Tieamat under her wing, and the nocturne was welcomed into the clan. Grateful for the kindness the dragons offered her, Tieamat pledged herself to Sealbryili, acting as her advisor in clan decisions and duties.

The longer she remained in the clan, the more peculiar the nocturne’s state seemed; even as the dragon aged, she did not mature. Even as an adult, she appears to be only a child; at this point, most of the clan has accepted that Tieamat will permanently remain in the body of a hatchling. However, her personality is anything but childish; Tieamat constantly shows wisdom beyond her apparent years, and is both knowledgeable and forthcoming. Many dragons come to the nocturne for insight on both public and personal matters; her advice is taken with great consideration amongst the clan, and she is an honored advisor to the clan leader.

The great secret that all old people share is that you really haven't changed in seventy or eighty years. Your body changes, but you don't change at all. And that, of course, causes great confusion.

▬▬▬▬▬▬
Tieamat’s wisdom is not without grounds; the nocturne has a distinct thirst for knowledge, and can often be found poring over old tomes and scripts in the deepest part of the lair. She is always searching for new information in any subject of interest, and most of her personal belongings consist of her favorite books and various notes. Even visiting dragons are not overlooked; strangers are often questioned on their experiences and travels thoroughly by Tieamat in the hopes of gleaning any useful knowledge from them. However, she occasionally provides wisdom that cannot be found in any book; most dragons wonder whether it is a product of Tieamat’s instinct or some knowledge she recalled from her long-forgotten past.

The nocturne is serious and stern in conversation, and while she is polite to others, the dragons of the clan know better than to toy with her. Even though she has a hatchling’s appearance, Tieamat can be surprisingly fierce and sharp-tongued if provoked; most dragons try to remain in her good favor for fear of upsetting her. She can be blunt when providing advice, but her wisdom is given with the best of intentions; the nocturne only seeks to provide help where it is needed.

Her likes and dislikes are largely unknown, as Tieamat prefers to remain enigmatic; most members of the clan know only to leave her alone or risk having a taste of her magical prowess. While she generally does not fight, the nocturne has read many scripts concerning battle strategy, and is no pushover when backed into a corner. She is well versed in magic and has very strong control over her element, enabling her to manipulate this power with ease. More than one dragon has underestimated her skills with magic in battle, and suffered as a result. Tieamat is just as adept in the air as she is on land, and is capable of performing stunning acrobatic displays in flight.

Wisdom is like a river,
ever flowing forwards,
no cup can hold it,
no time can achieve it
time does not give,
it only grants, to study
to learn, but somtimes
not everything is what it seems
as small can mean smart
if you look close enough.
