Biography
1. The Promise
Henriette came to the clan like so many did, on her way to the gods. But she was in no hurry. Since this seemed like a nice place she decided to stay for a while and started telling people about her desire to have hatchlings. She was still an adolescent at that time, maybe old enough to join the gods but not old enough to have hatchlings. Henriette told every male dragon that seemed unattached how very much she wanted to have hatchlings and wouldn’t he grant her that burning wish of hers?
She annoyed quite a few people with that. Even Maruel, who usually was very calm, became impatient. But Henriette was talking at him and his friend Hershey, who was also unattached, more than others. Hershey was confused by what she was saying. Didn’t she know he wasn’t interested in these kind of things? Was he not showing it clearly enough?
Maruel saw his friend’s distress and agreed to nest with Henriette if she still wished so once she was all grown up. He thought she was only going through one of those adolescent phases. He was wrong.
2. A Promise Kept
While Maruel thought she would forget, Henriette didn't. She remembered his promise to nest with her once she was old enough, and today was the day. Overjoyed she flew up to him.
"Ooooh Maurel!", she sang while approaching him.
He looked up from where he was preparing his equipment for his daily gathering run together with Hershey. Henriette dropped out of the sky in front of him.
"Guess who has come of age today!", she chirped while the dust hadn't even settled yet.
"What?", asked Maruel, who had all but forgotten his foolish promise.
"It's this beautiful Guardian lady standing in front of me. And since you so cheekily secured me as a mate when I was still an adolescent it is now time for us to have hatchlings!" And she giggled. An adult Guardian giggling was a strange sound.
Maruel continued staring at her. What ever was she talking about? He hadn't - Oh. She still remembered that? And actually wanted to have hatchlings with him?
"To the Nesting grounds we go! Don't worry, I reserved a nest for us!"
Oh well, a promise is a promise. Right? Hershey would have to gathering alone for a while.
They had three eggs together. While Henriette cooed over them Maruel still wasn't to sure about the whole affair.
