______ Obscurity was the great grandson of the gatekeeper, Naomi. Of course, this would be true for any of Oblivion's offspring, but somehow Obscurity felt an especially strong bond with her. It wasn't just his appearance, though that certainly was a factor. It was an incredible coincidence that they were almost identical - aside from their genders and ages - but Obscurity felt that their similarities were comprised of something else entirely.

______ Obscurity still remembered a specific instance from his days as a hatchling, something that he had never ceased to recall throughout adolescence, then adulthood. "Mother," He remembered asking, his large hatchling eyes still wide with curiosity. "Why am I like this?" They had stood together in the darkness of SHADOW DOMAIN, and Obscurity had never felt so alone. This was the first time he recognized it inside of him. The sudden urge to invoke senseless violence had terrified him beyond feeling, and it took all his self control to keep from clawing his homeland to shreds. He snuggled closer to his mother, Oblivion, horrified by the insatiable darkness growing inside of him. "I'm scared."

______ Instead of pulling away like Obscurity had feared, his mother only sighed. "Oh, Obscurity. My son." Oblivion's voice was filled with pain, and Obscurity had never heard her sound so broken. "This is all my fault. And now, you must bear the same burden that I've lived with all these years. And... " Oblivion paused to compose herself, taking a shaking breath that scared Obscurity more than the darkness inside of him. "I'm so sorry." Obscurity had never seen his mother like this. The hardened leader of the SARA NAME clan, Juro remembered his mother as a strong and indomitable ruler, not a sniffling shell reduced to tears. Deeply disturbed, Obacurity nudged his mother's arm gently. He felt her stiffen under his touch, and when she stood again she was back to the Oblivion that he knew.
