Genos miraculously survived, even with 95% of his skin burnt or otherwise destroyed. By the hand of advanced modern technology, his former body was re-created as a metal entity, new bionic limbs driven by his still organic brain. The man who had put him back together as a cyborg, the elderly technological genius Kuseno Hakase, later officially adopted the orphaned teen. The two had bonded over the many recovery periods between countless vital surgeries, exchanging their stories and plans for the future. Although Kuseno was old, his ideas were revolutionary, and his streamlined technological achievements blended together beautifully to offer Genos the best possible chances in life. The teen's life expectancy was pulled back up to what they had been before the Mad Cyborg's attack, and everything pointed towards the boy having a bright, safe future, even if he were mostly made of metal. Sadly, that was not to be. Driven by a fiery need for revenge, Genos pleaded to be equipped with all manner of advanced weapons, tracking systems and scanners. Kuseno managed to deny the child this until he reached age 17, where the dysphoric trauma and bottled-up fury reached a high point. The teen needed an outlet, and thus Kuseno began the painful process of turning his pride and joy into a walking weapon. |

Genos was pleased with the first few weapon updates, but insisted he needed more power.
He needed to become stronger.
His goal of destroying the Mad Cyborg became an overpowering purpose, an inferno burning restlessly in his mind, echoing how his body had suffered two years ago, for this otherwise meaningless existence to become his reality. He wouldn't mind if death set in too soon, as long as he would be taking his nemesis down with him. Kuseno didn't need to tell him twice about his self-destruction commands.
Over time, Genos became the icon of the Orion Group. The lone survivor, who broke through the flames and stood back up, growing up to wield them against his old foe. He became a cyborg for justice, roaming towns and cities as a reckless 19 year-old teen in pursuit of his ultimate goal.
Many times following that decision, he came home to his worried doctor's laboratory, beaten and near-defective. Frequent repairs and upgrades kept him on his feet, but more often than not he just kept on biting off more than he could chew.
The battle with Mosquito girl should have been the end of him. His foolish loss of focus, too many mistakes he'd made at once. She had beaten him with previously untapped strength, but he would go out with an unbelievable bang, taking her down with him to whatever awaited him after death. He refused to be afraid. Just seconds before all were to be lost, her vitals disappeared from his scanners at an impossible speed. With power drained out of his body, every spark surging to his Core, he didn't feel the impact when he fell.
But he was alive. Damaged, but alive.
And then he heard the voice of his miraculous savior... making the stupidest pun with a monotone voice.
"Mosquitoes... suck!"
He needed to become stronger.
