Shawn

A vivid purple wind dragon with pale wings, Shawn has little memory of his childhood. Abandoned as a young hatchling barely out of the shell, he has no memory of his parents or his clan of birth. Unable to fly and hardly able to fend for himself, Shawn wandered the Windsinger’s realm for weeks, scavenging what he could from the surrounding area. The young dragon learned to be resourceful and quick on his feet, taking advantage of whatever came across his path.

After some time wandering through the wilderness, Shawn stumbled across Rain, the healer for Clan Rush, as she was out searching for ingredients for her remedies. Recognizing the dragon’s desperate situation, Rain brought Shawn back to the clan and cared for the injuries Shawn sustained while alone in the wind realm. Once he had recovered enough strength, Shawn decided to stay as a permanent member of Clan Rush. Quiet and reserved, Shawn is usually a little standoffish when first meeting others. Conversations with the dragon are often short, blunt, and to the point, as he seems to have little interest in small talk.

This is a result of his experiences as a hatchling, which has made him very slow to trust. It takes some time for Shawn to accept new or unfamiliar dragons and changes to the clan, and they are often met with initial disdain. This does not mean that he is incapable of trusting; after an extended period of time in Clan Rush, Shawn finally accepted the area as his new home, and let down his guard enough to display a singular love and loyalty towards his new home. His devotion is unquestioned within the clan, and he often acts with the best intentions for Clan Rush in mind. However, he is still very wary around strangers and outsiders, and even some of the clan members have a difficult time establishing a connection with the quiet dragon through stilted conversation.

Serious and detached, it is often difficult to know what the dragon is thinking, and he is usually unwilling to express his opinion on matters. Shawn has no interest in seeking a mate or having hatchlings of his own – a likely result of his abandonment early in life. As such, he seems to carry an air of aloofness about him, especially dealing with families; he is used to being a solitary dragon, and does not seem to mind his chosen lifestyle. Shawn is quick to assume the worst in a situation, and he can be highly reactionary, causing him to leap to conclusions – or into battle – before actually understanding the situation.

This reflex is more out of fear of preserving his own life, and once the dust settles, Shawn is willing to apologize if he realizes he has done wrong. Shawn is of the opinion that actions speak louder than words, and usually acts on his feelings rather than talking with others. He is quick and powerful in battle, often resorting to tactics that are both bold and audacious in an attempt to end the battle quickly and efficiently. Rain taught him how to fly after he entered the clan, but Shawn prefers ground-based combat, as he is more experienced in the technique.
