Gale's Thoughts: Mika
Never in my life have I hated a dragon more than Mika.
It wasn't always that way, but...
Mika is not even close to the only dragon in my clan who engages in less-than-legal practices. I have learned that profession is far from the only thing that defines a dragon, and this clan is a safe haven. Very few of us have issues with each other that can't be easily resolved. Most of us consider ourselves one giant family.
Mika looks out for himself and Kona. That's it. End of discussion. He doesn't need anyone else. If they wanted to, they could pack up and leave right now and shed no tears about it.
But it would be a huge blow to the clan if they did, and they know it. I'm not sure when or how, but their "services" make up 1/7 of our clan's income. Mika's managed to use at least six different elements for his potions and spells. I still don't know how, but I've also noticed he's very weak with his own element for some reason. Maybe a side effect? (this past festival he got a frigid gem guardian as a familiar, which seems to have helped somewhat)
But it's not his shady business, or how he rooted himself irreversibly into my clan's finances, or even the fact that he just doesn't care that bothers me.
It's the blood magic.
It's that he has no qualms about using it.
It's that he used it to save my life at the expense of another.
It's that I shouldn't be here today, but Mika made sure I was, and I will always be in debt to him thanks to a practice I abhor.
I have my theories on who asked him to do it, but no one has ever come up and said to my face that they made a deal with him for my life. I know he wouldn't have cared if I died, so it must have been something big. I've asked him, but he won't say. He'll never say.
I hate him, but I'd die to protect him, just like anyone in this clan, and that only infuriates me more.
