Spinel

A wanderer; when he wandered onto Fjord's land and discovered the clan, he decided to stay. The others were wary of him, and none more than Tauriel; Spinel accepts Fjord's leadership, though not as outwardly eagerly as the others do. The rest of the clan kept a close eye on him, but he didn't mind much. He enjoys babysitting the children, who like to approach as close as they dare before running away giggling. He is closest to Flare, who had been following him for some time before he chose to settle down, and she's the only one so far who will curl up between his forelegs and fall asleep. He's the only one who can usually understand her; being attuned to magic, he finds it easier to read her. This has only made them closer to one another, and he thinks of her as somewhere between a little sister and a daughter.

Of all the clan, Tauriel was the most suspicious of him in the beginning; however, after watching his prowess as baby-sitter and defender from things that the others would sometimes miss ((eg, venomous snakes and the like)), she warmed up to him quickly. Her passion and headstrong attitude amused him, and soon he and she were the second mating pair of Fjord's clan.

He is a rather unimpassioned male, and on top of being a mostly magic-based fighter, he tends to stand apart from the others at times. When push comes to shove, however, he proves his worth and stands strong, both on the line of battle and in the more day-to-day duties in the clan. He's a good soul, and eventually all who he allies himself with come to realize it.
