Biography

Seraphine
"Beastclan Hunter"

It takes one night, to make it all blur
Change flesh to fur, it's the animal curse
With just one bite, the tables turned
You lit my world, and then watched it burn

Seraphine is, at the core of her being, a Beastclan Hunter. Her life revolves around that single purpose – protecting the lair from any Beastclans that attempt to establish dens or burrows anywhere near the Lair of Crashing Falls.

Her relationship with the Beastclans is a rocky one at best. Though she considers it to be her job, her purpose, there is no doubt that part of it is incredibly personal. Seraphine used to have a close and trusted partner. When they betrayed her they left her broken and angry...and they had Beastclan heritage. Though she says that has nothing to do with her excessive aggression towards Beastclan, it's difficult to know if she's actually telling the truth. Then again, she is very much like her mother, who grew up in a Fighting Ring and knew only violence against Beastclan enemies. Perhaps the aggression is just in her blood. Nonetheless, she relentlessly hunts down any Beastclans that trespass and remove them from the clan's territory. While she doesn't necessarily enjoy killing them, she will do so without hesitation if they refuse to cooperate with her.

With the clan, she is distant and can come off as a bit of a jerk. After the incident with her ex-partner, Seraphine has a difficult time trusting others, and therefore can be very closed off from the rest of her clan. Attempts to connect with her often end in barbed sarcastic quips that can drive even the sturdiest of dragons away.

She has a habit of hoarding incense, even going so far as to hold the sticks in her mouth while bored or completing tedious tasks. It's possible that the calming scents are a benefit to her mood, as she enjoys cleaner scents like lavender and hibiscus.

Bitten

She shifted in her pile of furs, her tail moving from side to side. It was soft, far too soft. She was used to sleeping out on the cold fields of unknown lands, where the ground was made of stone and the trees blotted out the sky above her. From here in her cave, an old Beastclan home that she had cleared out, the stars spilled right onto her floor. There was a gaping hole in the ceiling and the blood red clouds hovered just above the landscape. Turning her head, she viewed with boredom her assortment of shining weapons. They were all hung up on the wall precariously by ropes so that they could be ripped off at a moment's notice in case of an attack.

She stood up and stretched, her armor clinking. Her trophies seemed to be slightly askew. Had someone entered her den? The Ridgeback's eyes narrowed as she stepped forwards. There was the silver bow of a Centaur, and several feathers from bird-like Beastclan members. There were the heads of many rare species that had dared to evade her for the longest part of her career. But one head was missing. Where was that Serthis? The Serthis who was different than the rest; the one with black scales, two heads, and limbs... The Serthis who wasn't entirely a Serthis, but a half-breed whose father was a snake-creature and his mother a Guardian. That head was spiked and scaled, and its piercing red eyes stole away at her very soul.

Clunk.

The dragon-designed fur rose on her spine like hairs on a cat as she leaped back in fear. It hung from the ceiling by a rope, like the ones used to hold her weapons. It was held up by a snare, obviously crafted by one of her rivals. Her eyes trailed downwards and she was met snout to snout by that face. A grin seemed to be carved on the still-rotting head of her old nemesis... And his eyes moved to challenge her own.

She screamed. The mutant was chasing after her with the streamlined, sleek body of a horrible halfbred. His claws sunk into and pulled out of the ground within milliseconds, as if he was retracting his talons out of a sponge. Her sides heaved and blood was already streaked across her tail where he had shredded the tip and broken some of her spines. The dragon was helpless facing this monster, which was most certainly not prey but rather a predator. Slipping on the blood-drenched terrain, she skidded closer to the Wyrmwound.

It continued to chase her relentlessly, not breathing or making a sound. She swerved around the teeth-shaped growths and crawled helplessly, shrieking, up towards the curve of the bowl. It was right behind her and nothing let her know how close she was to her inevitable end. Her armor had all been destroyed in the fight and her pale flesh was exposed to his metal claws.

Her breathing had increased tenfold and her vision was fading into black as she started to lose consciousness slowly. Five seconds, give or take, and she would be beheaded and most likely speared before the Beastclan leaders that she stalked from the skies.

He appeared with a rift in the air and an alien humming noise, the only sound she'd heard from him so far. His maw opened and he latched onto her wing with scythe teeth, yanking backwards with fury in his eyes and the grim promise of self-victory shadowing his expression.

Sera screamed hoarsely and panicked, collapsing to the ground and kicking out at it's belly with her back legs. Amusement danced in its eyes which were redder than the Plague sun itself, and he showed a small smile that patiently reminded her she was going to die. With one last heave, she rammed her head against his own along with lashing out all her limbs at his smaller but much stronger frame.

His eyes widened slightly as he ripped off the weakened part of her wing and fell along with it towards the bubbling cauldron of disease far below him. His claws struggled to latch on to the sides but they were slippery from the contents inside lapping against the edges; to say the least his struggle was to no avail.

With a loud plop he was devoured by the heart of the land she protected. The juices rippled and turned to an angry, dark red as they absorbed the offering of his body. It seemed to know that this was a disgraceful hybrid, and it did not accept the whole body. With a screech the head of her hunter was spat out and landed, sizzling at her paws.

The Beastclan destroyer bowed her head, swore, and whispered shakily.

"That wasn't a fair fight... but I'd rather be unfair than dead."
