Biography
Cheep -The Bird of a Feather- Whereas Vesryn is convinced that all birds need glasses, Cheep is convinced that he IS a bird. Much of his time is spent twittering along with other birds around the lair, and he's gotten quite skilled at mimicking the various birdcalls he hears. He even dresses the part, with a wide variety of colorful wings that he's handcrafted from the fallen feathers of his brethren...along with a skull, that he hopes was collected humanely. Needless to say, he's Vesryn's favorite. She spends most of her time (when she's not hunting for birds, of course) making him try on all of the new pairs of glasses she's crafted in the hope that he'll offer his expert opinion on them. He's a tough judge, but she seems to enjoy the challenges his advice brings her...challenges that come mostly because he refuses to speak in anything but a chirpy sort of morse code, which makes it hard for her to understand him at times. Still, the two seem to work well together, and far more unhappy birds have been seen around the Windswept Plateau than usual, each sporting a stylish (and secure) pair of glasses. More than any other member of Clan Standalone, Cheep tolerates and enjoys Vesryn's company no matter how cryptic she is or how strangely she behaves. He seems to have an innate understanding of what she means, and the reasoning behind her actions, and he never once questions her on it. Despite the clan seeming like a collection of outcasts, misfits, and dragons with no real ties to any others, there is one thing that holds them all together: no matter who they are or what they've done, Vesryn and Cheep invite them with open arms and allow them to stay, so long as they don't cause any trouble to the rest of the clan. While they are occasionally the butt of a joke or two within the clan, any outsider that attempts to join in is quickly attacked and subdued, if not outright dispatched. They are the one tie that binds the clan together, and their mutual quest doesn't diminish the importance of the role they play, or the esteem they're held in because of it. If anything, it strengthens it, for who would know a misfit better than a pair of dragons who are equally, if not more, strange than the ones they welcome? |
