The Ashfall wastes looked more like a war front. A border skirmish had broken out between clans. The field was filed with screaming, writhing, angry dragons. The ferocity of the battle had claimed few dragons' lives. But no one would walk away unscathed. Vudall heard the battle roars of his clan's leaders, Embyr and Lyre. After he chased away the wildclaw he was fighting, he turned to see the two dragons, their moves perfectly in sync. His mouth twitched into a slight smile, a bit envious of their relationship. Another dragon jumped on him, shaking him out of his thoughts. The spitting, snarling coatl was unrelenting in their attacks. He fought back just as furiously. Letting the magic build up in his claws and attacked, slashing with his specialized diseased strikes. Using his horns to throw the dragon into the air and claw at its belly. He let out an angry roar to chase them away.

Just like that the battle was over, the fight had finished just as quickly as it started. As he stood there, his limbs heavy with exhaustion from the just finished battle, Vudall looked up from the bloodstained battlefield and saw something perched on a tall rock not far away. Its form was not unlike a bird's, but it was ever shifting and changing. Like the very smoke that hung in the air of his home. A smoke gyre. It let out a single, almost haunting cry and watched him. Unafraid of the potential of being hunted. Vudall watched the gyre with wary curiosity, taking a small step forward. He almost leapt back when the bird took off from its perch. Awestruck, he watched how it fluidly glided through the smoky air, almost as if it had become one with it. Then the gyre did the most peculiar thing. It landed right on his shoulder. The pearlcatcher locked eyes with the ever-changing form of the bird. A connection sparked between the two. From that day on, Vudall was never seen without that Smoke Gyre. It aided him in every battle, and every hunt. He did his best to provide food and shelter for it. It was a perfect balance between dragon and familiar. They needn't talk, or tell each other anything, the slightest look and they understood each other.

Vudall is friends with both Migali and Kaseko, he was part of the patrol that found Kaseko in the scorched forest. He then gave the Tundra to Eve to care for, which she happily obliged. Since then he's been keeping an eye on Kaseko whenever he decided to run off. When Vudall isn't around, Migali is to make sure Kaseko doesn't wander into too much trouble.

He is a well respected warrior, Blayze often praises him for good work out on patrols and such. Though he is a small bit hotheaded and tends to jump to battle a little too quickly, Vudall is quite loyal to the clan that saved his life on numerous occasions out on the battlefield.

Vudall was taken into the clan after a hunting party had found him heavily wounded out in the Blacksand Annex. They had rushed him back to the camp they had set up and tended to his wounds and insisted that he follow them home to make sure he was alright.
The Pearlcatcher hesitantly agreed and followed them to the Ruby Ironworks where his wounds were tended to. Blayze had asked him to join his ranks as a fighter which Vudall agreed to. The coatl he once looked up to he now looks at as an old friend, a brother even.
