Caleb was a clever and fierce warrior, adept at staying in the shadows and completing his objective, no matter what. He could carry messages across Sornieth without ever being intercepted, spy on enemy clans without anyone noticing, and assassinate his targets silently and secretly. He stayed alive through a combination of luck and skill, always returning home eager to start the next mission, right up until the Molten Scar Affair. It was supposed to be an easy mission, nothing more dangerous than carrying a letter across Fire territory to an allied Lightning clan, but this time, his luck failed him. He was caught and executed, thrown into the lava and burned alive as a message to the Ice Flight about how spies were dealt with. He never even got a trial.

For some reason, his spirit never passed on. Maybe it was because he was in the Fire territory, or maybe his work just wasn't finished yet. Either way, he kept watch on all that transpired around him, waiting for something to happen. After years of waiting around, he spotted another ghost making her way across the fiery terrain, with a wounded Wildclaw leading the way. He had never seen another spirit like himself, so he followed behind the two dragons. The bloodied dragon couldn't see either of them, and the pure white wildclaw spirit could only summon small winds to interact with the world around her, leaving the injured dragon completely unaware of the danger she was running into. Caleb couldn't stand to watch the two of them get into trouble, so he followed behind them and used his ability to move objects to steer the living dragon in the right direction. He never conversed much with the other ghost, but she seemed to be a young girl, skinny and malnourished. Her name was Jeanne de Chantal, and she devoted her afterlife to helping all the lost children she could find, guiding them into safe homes. Devoid of purpose and yearning to do something, Caleb vowed to assist her in helping guide lost souls. When their injured charge finally found a safe clan to call home, they decided to stick around and make sure any other lost spirits would find their way to the Clan of Milk and Honey.
