ORIGINS Born in the Coral Reef. (BP) NOTES • Rainsong Jungle Team ~ In random Dragon box Oct 24, 2019. Fav Foods: |
CYOA
Hello. You just missed story time. I have been reading a chapter of "The Princess Dragon" to the hatchlings twice a week. They love it! Today we finished the book, so I need to pick out a new one for next time. Do you have any suggestions? I think I'll head over to the Mystery section. It was nice meeting you!
Talk to one of the other dragons in the library
~ Return to the beginning of the CYOA ~
Rio opened his eyes and watched the light shafts shining down through the coral above his bed. Small currents in the water above made the light dance in his room. He loved waking up to that sight. He began to munch on a clawful of water lettuce SeaSpray had thoughtfully planted around the edges of his room, some quite close to his bed. He should write a song for her as a thank you gift. Yes, that would be his next project. He would write her a song. Hmm. But about what? She was a farmer. Was there something about her job he could use as inspiration for a song? Nothing was coming to mind. Maybe later, inspiration would strike.
He rolled out of bed and while he got ready, he thought about his plans for the day. First, he would go visit SeaSpray in the greenhouses. He knew she spent her mornings there tending to her plants. Then he might head over to Hibiscus Island. He had a lovely, secluded spot in one of the gardens that was very conducive to songwriting. In the afternoon he had to be in the Library to read to the young dragons at story hour. He was going to begin a new mystery story, "The Sornieth Express". It was one of his favorites. Then after that, depending on how much he had been able to complete of the song, he might work on it some more or maybe work on something else. Sometimes it helped him to work on a completely different project for a bit to allow him to tackle the first again with fresh ideas.
Rio hesitated at the entrance to his room. He didn't fully understand the technology that kept the water from flooding his room when he opened the door, or how it didn't pour in through the coral that made up the walls. It was quite amazing how the air was able to stay fresh in the lairs. He guessed they utilized some of that same technology that the deepsea bulbs they all wore used that enabled them to move about underwater and breathe as though they were on land. Except the bulbs didn't keep the water away. Maybe he would find Typhoon later and get him to explain how it worked. He grabbed one more clawful of water lettuce and swam out of his room and up to the surface.
It only took a few quick strokes to reach the beach. He shook all the water out of his fur and headed down the path that would take him to the greenhouses. As he passed the training fields, he could see the new dragon, Jacaranda, sparring with Osprey under the watchful eye of SandDune. Rio gave her a quick wave and continued on the path as it entered the woods, thinking about his own training days.
______________________
At the greenhouses, Rio followed SeaSpray around, watching her tend the plants and listening to her running commentary on each one. It was a pleasant way to spend the morning. When it was lunchtime, they picked a salad from the huge selection and sat outside the greenhouses to eat. SeaSpray offered for him to take a few new plants he could add to his wall garden, but he wasn't planning on going back to his room until much later, so she said she would try to find an apprentice to deliver them to his room. That was a good plan and so Rio flew off to Hibiscus Island to do some creative thinking and hopefully write that song for SeaSpray.
