Biography

Yoku Jpn: Desire

A magical entity who's true age remains unknown, however despite his youthful physique, it is known he has been alive for decades if not centuries. Although the point of Yoku's origin is a mystery, he is known across Sorneith as a legendary being of a great power. Specifically, the power to bring any dragon's deepest desire to reality.

Yoku lives deep within a vast, bottomless lake near the Sea of a Thousand Currents. Where he grants wishes to all dragons who venture out to seek him; a duty he has fulfilled for as far back as he can remember. One day, a band of greedy and selfish dragons came after him. He put up a good fight, but in the end was captured and taken off back to a lab in the Shifting Expanse to be studied and have his wish-granting powers extracted to grant them everything they could ever want and more. Unfortunately, while Yoku's wish-granting powers were being drained away, they were never able to find a way to harness them.

Months passed with Yoku trapped in his aquatic containment unit. Hope of ever getting free dwindled with each passing day. With what little strength he could muster, he decided he would had had enough and broke free, fleeing off to try and return home. Naturally, his captors chased after him. Their experiments had been unsuccessful, yet they were determined to keep trying until they either did succeed or Yoku perished.

Knowing in his heart that his home wasn't safe, he continued on the run for quite some time. His journey for sanctity against his pursuers took him across the world before finally he came across a group within the Tangled Wood. Seeing that he was in danger, one of the dragons, named Higure stood up against those chasing Yoku and told them to back down. She said that Yoku was under her protection and they would have to cross through her to get to him. Of course they tried to fight her, but it was all over when Shoushi joined the fight looking for a little fun.

When the dragons who had been after him for so long turned tail and ran, Yoku was beyond grateful to this clan of dragons. Higure asked him why they had been pursuing him and Yoku told his story. Though Shoushi wasn't thrilled with the idea, Higure offered him the ability to stay with them and be protected if they ever did come after him again, making sure he was aware the choice was entirely his. Yoku thought it over but ultimately decided to go along and met the rest of the clan. As thanks for taking him in, he decided he would use the last of ability to grant wishes, to grant one final wish to this clan, but only one which they'd all have to agree on. He did warn however, that wishes often granted in odd ways that weren't what the individual wanted, often with a cruel twist; but he would try to weigh things in their favor. Of course, a few thought of selfish things such as Shoushi wanting power to crush others and conquer the world. However, most thought of other, less self-centered things. Mizuho's first thought was reviving Konsho. Suishou thought of having her mortality restored. Soundwave considered the chance to be a real dragon. Kazuto merely wanted his friends and clan-mates to be happy, while Hinata & Raiden wanted the strength to keep them safe. Higure was the only one not to want anything, thinking she didn't deserve a wish after all the blood she'd said from her own curse.

Akatsuki however, got an idea to which she shared with all but Higure. The others thought it was a great wish and agreed, though Shoushi still only wanted power. Akatsuki then stepped forward with the others encouragement and Higure's confusion and told of Higure's curse, something that only confused Higure more. Akatsuki then said that since Higure was the one to first go to Yoku's aide and protect him, the clan felt it right the wish should be for her. The wish.... To free Higure from her curse of turning into a monster every full moon. Yoku smiled then used his power to grant the wish as best as he could. While the nature of his powers wouldn't allow the curse to be fully lifted, Higure was given control over it, making it a power for her to tap into a forbidden strength as opposed to a curse inflicting her every month. Higure was beyond words, but thankful to all of her friends nonetheless to finally be free.

Yoku now lives in a small pond he made near the cave the Twilight Clan calls home. For if he goes too long without being in water, he will die.
