Searching to wrestle back some control from Pandora, priestess to the Shadowbinder, Trivia had the messenger Iansa collect what news she could regarding the tales of Naomi the Gatekeeper. When Iansa brought back word that the Gatekeeper's sole mortal daughter Willow was in the Wyrmwound, the Nocturne sorceress began to plot how to bring one of the Gatekeeper's descendants to The Crossroads to aid in opening the doorways to the gods.

Trivia's trinity magic indicated that there was strength in the third generation removed from the Gatekeeper: a hatching found in the Third nest from the Third nest of Willow's. Thus did Trivia implore Yukio to use her skills to capture the still-damp hatchling from the Hewn City.

Carefully stowed in the elder Wildclaw's pack, the tiny Fae made her way to The Crossroads of the Foxfire Bramble. She was given to the hatchling keeper Wintermorn for her days as a fledgeling, and then was brought to Trivia for her schooling. The Nocturne convinced Light elder Areskynn to assist in the tutoring of the strange Fae who had been shelled in his homeland. The young Fae was also much fussed over by elders Rosaline and Vestri.

And so Daena grew up a bright and pretty young thing. Despite the deepest shadows of The Crossroads, she seemed to be laced in the light of her birthplace. Not even Coatls can ignore her bland monotone because the happy expressiveness of her frills is so captivating. And yet it would be a mistake to ignore her origins. There is a powerful magic that courses through her wee frame. She may be a delicate delight, but her claws walk the rift between worlds and even the greatest dragons would do well to be wary of her.
