Atrasia

A skilled warrior with a rigid code of ethics.

Atrasia grew up on the stories of brave knights and daring deeds. As an adult, she fights only for what she believes is right, refusing to sell herself out to anyone who needs to use gold and jewels to convince her. She grew up in the Starfall Isles, far away from the domain of the Lightweaver, but eventually found herself a permanent resident of the territory surrounding the Casparnian Library. When a caravan of merchants passed through her home, she volunteered to guard it. However, when the caravan leaders mocked her for giving her food for the day to a group of ragged-clothed travelers, she became enraged and, snatching a few bags of coins, stormed off, leaving the merchants yelling behind her. After losing them she regrouped with the other travelers and gave the little she had managed to fly off with to them, grumbling about how "those feather-bellied snakes had all the treasure they could ever need, and couldn't even bear to give away a bit of food."

She ended up resting with the travelers that night, sharing the warmth of their fire. A male tundra, who introduced himself as Bjarni, explained that they were on their way to the Sunbeam Ruins to settle near a library there. His mate, Ursa, had grown up there, and she also wanted to see family and feel the sun on her scales again after being so long in the Southern Icefield. They seemed like a jolly and playful couple, and the tundra had a hearty laugh that seemed to warm her up when she heard it.

The third member of the group was a quiet tundra with coppery fur that shimmered in the sunlight and brilliant green wings that were banded with blues and purples. Looking at her made Atrasia feel even smaller than she was, and she felt even more in awe when the beautiful girl started singing. The sun had just touched the horizon and the night had barely gotten started when Bjarni asked her if she would mind singing; after all, any new companion was cause for a celebration indeed. She smiled, opened her mouth, and out came a lively song sung with a rich and powerful voice. Bjarni swept Ursa up into a dance while she clapped and laughed between lines of song and Atrasia could hardly do more than watch and smile. Enakai was her name.

The group traveled on for several weeks and eventually settled in the area around the Casparnian Library. Atrasia quickly fell in love with the place, especially the huge collection of heroic adventures that she could read about whenever the mood struck her. Eventually she signed on as a guard at the library, making sure that no one steals or defaces anything. She is a free spirit and frequently ventures out in search of items to add to the collection, but she always comes home to the library and to Enakai, who, it turns out, was just as in awe of Atrasia's kindness and courage as she was of her beauty and grace.
