Aquarian Spy

Spymaster Marlais works in the shadows and skies; Emerantha works beneath the waves, listening to the echoes and whispers the currents bring her.
Her egg was found on the shore at the base of the clan's main lair, carried there by far-distant currents. She began life as a fur-covered tundra, but soon sought changing magic to become what she is now. Sodden fur is of no use beneath the waves, but her webbed talons aid in swimming, and the stiff crest on her head makes her remarkably sensitive to shifts in the ebb and flow around her. Seeing heat is less useful in the sun-touched regions of the sea, but down in the depths, where the blindfish lurk, her four eyes give her a terrifying edge.
To the surprise of everyone who knows of it (though these are a rare few), Emerantha (or Ran, as some know her) has won the alliegance a handful of Maren from nearby schools. They act as her eyes, ears, and occasionally hands underwater. Her allies would be in great danger if their roles were known, considered traitors to their kind, but their help gives Ran a better chance to keep the clan safe from both Beastclan and the greater threats that lurk in the deep. Ran uses the information she gathers to benefit her clan and her allies' schools alike. She's seen hints of what lurks in the Leviathan Trench. She knows the power that runs through the crystals and into the sea around the Starfall Isles, and the terrible wonders it can create. She's heard the prophecies from the Spiral Keep. Against such potential threats, division between Beastclan and Dragonkind are worth as much as salt on the breeze.

Emerantha encountered a wounded Maren on the shore not far from home, dragged up and left there by a band of marauding dragons. Ran immediately came to the Maren's aid, driving the marauders back and dragging the Maren back to water. As soon as the marauders left, Ran did what she could for his wounds and kept an eye on him until he could fend for himself. Both of them are still surprised he survived the ordeal, and he is even more surprised that a dragon would endanger herself to help him. He is still suspicious of her motives to some extent, and regards her intention of bringing dragonkind and Maren together as foolishness, but there's something about her that makes him wonder if it's not just delusion. He knows the stories about dragons with blue eyes that can see what's yet to come.
