Born to the weavers of the Passus Canorous, Kastra grew up knowing she was different. Though she looked like any other hatchling within the troupe's fold, others often gave her a large breadth of space citing excuses of not wanting to step on her tail or touch her fur. Eyes never quite as bright as the other hatchlings in her age group, the young tundra turned instead to her parents to see why others avoided them. Her father, an accomplished weaver, rarely left his loom beyond the necessities of food and sleep while her mother both wove great bolts of fabric and oversaw the trading of each one. Though neither seemed off to the young one, there was definitely an air of nervousness when others outside the Òrdugh dealt with them.

An idealistic young dragon, Kastra strove to create new patterns and better fabrics for her parents business venture. Though she tried to introduce other materials rather than discarded fur her parents used, she was often shot down for this as discarded fur held magic the best. In her zeal, the young Kastra attempted multiple times to create her own weaving style, though this too was often ridiculed and slowly she was lead back into the fold of learning to weave the 'right' way. Though she was very familial and loathed leaving her family behind, she knew to see her own ideas come to life she would have to move on.

Kastra set forth after a fight with her parents, looking for a new clan to call her own with the idea of creating garment that would be helpful instead of harmful.
