PERSONALITY
Born with eyes that glow vividly white, Brik has been extremely self-conscious of them since he first became aware that they were unusual. Unlike Rip, who effortlessly avoids the judgement of others by merely being clueless about social conventions, Brik is more grounded in life and often struggles when he notices the two have become the center of attention. It was easy enough being Rip's interpreter when they operated in Spinehome and knew nearly every dragon they met, but since they began to travel the stares have grown more frequent.

This tendency of freezing up in public has, perhaps ironically, given him a reputation as a stoic, even grumpy dragon. Very few get close enough to realize that this isn't true in the slightest.

HISTORY
Brik's father was effectively pure arcane magic. His mother was something like a zombie, a returned being lacking even a heartbeat. The result of such a pairing was a nestful of strange children.

While most of their siblings perished soon after hatching, Brik and his sibling Ripplestep clung to life, clawing their ways to adolescence and eventual adulthood. Regardless of their survival, however, the two have always had a strange connection with death. Brik may not be able to see ghosts directly, but he can feel them everywhere: waves of oppressive emotions and presences, around every corner and behind every door, particularly in his clan of birth: Spinehome. It took years to unwind the many tangled threads of the spiritual side of the clan, especially for two young dragons with no mentors or formal training, but hard work- and a lot of trial and error- eventually paid off with a cautious coexistence between the lingering and the deceased.

The two jointly decided to travel thereafter, as Spinehome increasingly began to focus on stability and recovery for their living clan members. Ever since, they have ventured from clan to clan, offering their services as mediums, investigators, or hunters of the paranormal to dragons with spiritual issues. Brik has been able to train his ability into a more useful sense, reading the moods and thoughts of spirits with an ease beyond even Rip, growing ever-better at using such a skill to protect his physically-frail sibling.

They journeyed to Stormview after hearing rumors of an old resort inexplicably returning to operation and a small string of disappearances to boot.

CONNECTIONS
24312420p.png Ripplestep is extremely frail as a result of their connection to death, and Brik has always felt compelled to protect his sibling because of this. The truth is that this protection goes both ways: Rip is strong, mentally and emotionally at least, and Brik can lean on them even when he feels all is hopeless. Sometimes he thinks not even Rip knows exactly how much he relies on them.
62137920p.png Brik had heard of the Cadavery even before he met Caonach, and it was his curiosity about the place that eventually won both he and Rip into taking the poor Gaoler under their wings. Brik has a lot of respect for Caonach's quick mind, and having an extra set of claws to protect Rip certainly helps puts him at ease.
