Biography
Athena was the adopted daughter of Lavandula, who had found the orphan with future sight and was brought into the clan when she was four years old. Athena was raised as the chief's daughter and as the flight representative of Water.
Athena had her first chance to represent her Flight when she joined Dragoneirre's Third Flight Hunger Games. She was following on the heels of the clan's last victory in the Second Flight Hunger Games with the clan's Warrior Guild leader Sanguine Marsten, who was also the Water Flight representative. As such, Athena felt a lot of pressure to live up to the last victory and didn't want to let the clan down.
Athena and Sanguine got off to an awkward start at first, as the two had never truly met the other. Only passing glances and recognition during her mother's meetings with the specialist department heads of the clan. So when it came time for the Flight Hunger Games, Athena and Sanguine weren't certain if meeting the other and discussing the upcoming event was proper. Sanguine felt like it wasn't his place to act like he knew better or could give advice to the Chief's daughter, and Athena felt a mixture of shyness to approach Sanguine as well as pride and determination to do it herself without any help, even if the fear of failure paralyzed her. It was her mother, Lavandula, who suggested that the two converse during a meet, and with that outside request from their leader the two agreed to go along with it. It was because of this Sanguine and Athena got to know each other and became friends.
Her team didn't win the game, but she did enjoy the experience and she got to become closer to Sanguine out of it, and the two kept meeting up and hanging out well after the event. The two were inseparable, always having fun, getting into midnight excursions of getting into mischief, conjuring golems & necromancy, seances with the dead. And calm moments, gazing at the sky or eating desserts at Ginger's bakery. Eventually Sanguine purposed to Athena and she said yes. Her mother initiated their wedding under a full moon, and the two couldn't be happier.
Later on, Sanguine became a soldier during the Dominance Wars and Sanguine's personality had begun to change as he became more subdued and pulled away from everyone to avoid the pain of losing people during the exaults. It took a strain on their relationship, which was furthered when Sanguine contracted the plague. He survived but was forever changed with the diseased blood. Athena couldn't understand how he could accept his fate and the two ended up becoming distant until they eventually divorced.
