THE FORGOTTEN CROWN
━ TAVERN ━ You don’t have to go very far to find the lady in charge – Atropa is always somewhere in the main room when the tavern is open, either serving drinks behind the counter or checking in on customers. Wherever she’s found, Atropa keeps an ear out for any intriguing gossip and is aided by the faeries that flit about the tavern, both inside and out, with some disguised as rats and spiders to linger in the shadows. Atropa runs the information gathering half of the tavern. Nothing learned is written down per se; she prefers to collect and store the unconfirmed gossip in her memory, but anything discovered to be true gets added to her pearl for later use. Knowledge is leverage, after all. She has a soft spot when kids are involved, especially those orphaned or lost in the salt marsh. Whatever their life was before doesn't matter. They're her children now. Atropa is the most powerful mage in the salt marsh, especially when it comes to magically altered forms. If a dragon wishes to change their form, they come to her for assistance. Mostly, it is her own family that benefit from this, though there is the odd traveler who makes the request. She has also discovered that gaining the trust of a local Serthis group has been easier when her own form mirrored theirs, at least in part. |
