His generous heart and conscientious nature has made the Sunsharp library a much needed sanctuary of calm. Amidst the high standards and grueling conditioning the acolytes endure, Nox ensures the library will never be a contentious environment - the only stress one encounters is what they bring with them. While he spends most of his time quietly acquiring, cataloging, repairing, and reshelving, the softspoken pearlcatcher doesn’t hesitate to raise his voice if his sanctuary’s peace is disturbed. Whatever happens elsewhere in the clan has nothing to do with him, but as soon as a dragon sets foot in Nox’s domain, they follow Nox’s rules, and he’s fiercely protective of the clan members seeking refuge within the library’s silent shelves.

As the clan slowly evolved into what it is today, he kept out of the ladder climbing and groupthink to focus on his archive, tending solely to the books and the people who borrow them. Nox is good at what he does because he loves it, not out of any desire to be the best. A cornerstone of continuity in the clan’s constant turnover, Nox remains a repository of knowledge intentionally removed from institutional politics. While his desire to remain unbiased can come across as indifference, he simply maintains that he knows what’s best for his health - and the health of the library’s guests.

A childhood friend of Alacrith’s, Nox encouraged her starry-eyed plans to break off from her birth swarm and start her own clan years before she actually followed her ambitions. Back then, he was a solitary bookseller, operating a stand stocked with hand selected titles in the Mirrorlight Promenade. When Clan Sunsharp was founded, he was offered a space to set up the clan’s library, and seller eagerly became lender. While he has history with the command team, he insists his relations with them are purely platonic - save for his partner, Vorlen, whom he apparently doesn’t mind sharing with three other dragons.

Possessed briefly by malevolent entities during the Shadeshell Revolt, Nox survived the ordeal with significant damage to his health and psyche. While he does his best to sustain the standards of his role, his daily weakness and fatigue is evident to everyone, even behind the warmth of his smile. These days, he keeps his identifying pearl locked in his office, where only his most trusted clanmates have seen the dark cracks spiderwebbing across its nacreous surface.
