Queen Oleander hails from a massive forest in the middle of Nature territory, where her lineage can be traced to a single ancient tree that at one point housed every egg in her bloodline. Commander Oak, the Guardian who oversees her personal defense forces as well as the city's main guard, has been her sworn protector since the day she hatched. When Shade-touched dragons began appearing in the cities surrounding the royal forest, Oleander organized quarantine camps along every major trade path in an attempt to both contain the outbreak and to assist any wayward travelers who had been unknowingly infected. They managed to contain it for a while, but word of the clinics spread and quickly found themselves overwhelmed. Eventually, every major city was reporting outbreaks. Rather than risk any further casualties, Oleander called the most powerful magic wielders in the territory to put the remaining citizens into deep sleep. Through a spell that took an entire fortnight to cast, they successfully transferred their people to new land - an arid but almost arable plane in between a distant coastline and the edge of a massive, fiery caldera. Queen Oleander, while successful in saving a majority of her people, sacrificed the ancient power of her forest in the spell's proceedings. When their new land was divided up for new infrastructure, Oleander was given control of the largest arable patch that eventually became known as the Greenhouse. Oleander's natural acuity for speaking to natural forces paired with King Cillian's industrial prowess made transforming the flat plain into a wind-proof, glass encased agriculture haven a matter of a short few years. |
