When Rhodium promised riches for the queen’s murder, Contrast didn’t hesitate. After all, it was an important job. And if he didn’t do it, who would?

Contrast quite liked Queen Ferra. But ah, he was so much more loyal to Rhodium. One of them restricted his talents, the other lined his pockets with gold. He followed the instructions to the letter. Make the murder discreet? Check. Leave her body where others can see it? Check. Leave the weapon in the hands of another dragon to deflect suspicion? Check. It was perfect.

For all about twenty years.

In that time, Contrast did various other jobs for Rhodium. His only question was “When do I start?” He became quite an expert at it, and no one ever suspected him.
Until his son had to go and speak up.

Crest outed him for every murder he had done since the death of the queen. At first he denied it, but when Crest threatened to take it to Prophecy, he backed off. Crest was still bitter for those years of lies, as was his mother, Entwine. So Crest told Prophecy anyway.

Prophecy told Rhodium to exile Contrast, but Rhodium still desired his services. Contrast left anyway, and hasn’t returned since. He couldn’t face his clan after being exposed like that.

Nowadays he's just a legend, but still, some people still talk about him as a close friend, and a traitor. Some want to see him executed. Some wonder if he plans to come back.
