Biography

Theme: Jud Strunk - Daisy a Day
~~~
"I'll give you a daisy a day, dear
I'll give you a daisy a day
I'll love you until the rivers run still
And the four winds we know blow away"
He brings her a flower every day.
It began when he was scarcely out of the nest. His heart stopped as soon as he saw her. She was so beautiful, so graceful, full of such a vibrant life. He knew then that he would love her for the rest of his days. Too tongue-twisted and nervous to know what to say, he plucked a single flower and shyly offered it to her. She took it with joy.
The clan laughed to see them together. Him, always fumbling with his words, quiet and shy, an introvert through and through; her, the life of the party, bubbling and vivacious and talkative. But somehow they fit together perfectly. He loved to listen to her chatter. She found their quiet moments together peaceful.
And every day, he brought her a flower.
Sometimes it was roses, carefully cut from the overflowing bushes of the Viridian Labyrinthe. Another day he’d bring her the littlest wildflower, scarcely the size of his talon, plucked from the plains of the Windswept Plateau. Rare ice blossoms from the Southern Icefield; night-blooming lilies from the Tangled Wood; ember blooms from the Ashfall Waste.
He brought her flowers every day.
He delighted in traveling all across Sornieth, tiny wings fluttering with excitement as he quested for the most beautiful petals to bring to his beloved. She received each and every one with joy.
They would meet in their special spot, on the cliffs near the Millmeadows. Every day she would wait for him. Every day, he would fly to her with blossom in hand. They’d fly around each other, a windswept dance of their love. The heady perfume of the flower would fill the air as they settled onto the grass to watch the sun set.
He brings her a flower every day...
But she isn’t there.
He knows the clan whispers. He can feel their concern as he sets off each day to find the perfect bloom. They worry for his sanity. They think he doesn’t remember.
He remembers everything.
He remembers the day she wasn’t there to meet him.
He remembers the crushing feeling of realizing she was never coming back.
The goddess claimed his beloved, and he will never see her again.
But every day, he brings her flowers. He waits for her at their special spot. He holds the blossoms in his hands, smelling their scent as the sun sinks below the horizon.
He’ll bring her flowers until the day he dies.
