A calm and calculating dragon, Azaya prefers to work by herself in her den as she formulates new medicines and potions to help Gale keep the clan healthy. She has a deep sense of how chemistry works and uses that knowledge to make more potent brews. She has a cold side, where she'll use living creatures as test subjects to observe the effects of new brews. She's gone so far as to use her own offspring when test subjects are in short supply. Because she views her children with Crystal genes superior like herself, usually between herself and Gawain, she lures others with "inferior" genes to mate with her and use the hatchlings in secret tests. This practice was brought to light when she enchanted ZERO into mating with her and being interrupted mid-experiments by him and his daughter. She tried to flee, taking the hatchlings with her, but one squirmed free and fell to the ground. Sull collected him, a Pearlcatcher named Arvias, and rushed him to Gale. The other two of the nest perished. Azaya stays almost entirely due to her importance to the clan via medicine making and knowledge, though many clan mates resents her. Gawain stands by her, defending her at every opportunity.
