Head Thaumaturge

Lovelace is head of the Etherium's thaumaturgy division, which researches the effects of arcane energy on living and nonliving matter. Though an undisputed genius, Lovelace is a deeply flawed individual, accused variously of being arrogant, unethical, cowardly, and sometimes neurotic, a state he has been driven to by the disturbing results of some of his experiments, which he has done his best to cover up. Over time he appears to be overcoming his narcissistic infatuation with his own brilliance and developing something of a moral compass, but it is difficult to tell whether his regret is genuine or a struggling, desperate imitation manufactured to evoke sympathy.

Few dragons like Lovelace, but most are forced to grudgingly agree that his mind is irreplaceable; he conceptualized and built the Etherium's constructs single-handedly.

Of late he has fallen wretchedly in love with another thaumaturge named Lyre, who seems to find his plight genuinely affecting and pathetically amusing by turns.
