General

General's back hit the stone, breath coming in quick pants through the cloth over his mouth. He reached up with a claw, yanking it down and settling it around his neck again to take a few deep breaths in the cold night air. He'd been on a trail for hours, hunched low to the ground, nose more or less in the dirt. This break was well-deserved, even as he stretched his wings out against the face of the boulder, rubbing the neglected scales between his wings on the rough-hewn stone. His armoring felt too heavy, too cold on his tail. What a harsh night to be out. He tucked his wings against his back again, shaking himself out. It was about time to be getting back to work, looking for his quarry, sword at his side. The sooner he found the scum, the sooner he could return to his nice, warm cave, curl up with a nice, warm drink, and sleep off the chill and exhaustion of the night. Gems glistening in the moonlight, he stretched his wings, and took off once more.
