Marius

Brilliantly colored plumage and a snowy-esque underbelly are what mark Marius, although...it's due to his eyes that he's something of an outcast among his Clanmates. Why? The light, yellow eyes that are so striking against his violet coat are a mark of a Light dragon. At least, he's a former Light dragon, so there's something for his Clanmates to feel more at ease about, although it might also help that he was cast out of his Clan.

Why? To put the matter simply, it has to do with his coloring. When he hatched from his egg, his mother simply took a step back, as if to keep from claiming him. It's not that Marius is an exceptionally handsome Coatl, it's that his coloring--the violet, especially, is more reminiscient of a Shadow dragon, or at least, the stereotypical Shadow dragon, than of one of the Light. Unfortunately, this became a hindrance for him as he grew older, as his color and markings made him stand out in hunting or gathering parties, neither of which particularly wanted to allow Marius on.

At some point, they tired of him, or maybe he tired of them, and Marius was suddenly no longer part of his birth Clan, cut off from contact as he spent months wandering for a place that would keep him. Quite by accident, Marius ended up in the Tangled Wood, and after having gotten stuck in trap made to ensnare insects (unfortunately, the netting of sap was fairly sticky,and Marius was covered from head to toe), he was chanced upon by Sinna.

She's the one who unstuck him from the sap and got him to their Clan, chirping in the Coatl tongue, as she'd taken to learning the language in her spare time, when she was not selling sweaters or mediating between members of the Clan. Thus, Marius ended up staying, liking the way the shadows danced off his wings, although the distinct lack of sunlight is something that, admittedly, he misses.
