Biography
The Nymph
If it weren’t for the colour of her eyes—a dark, shimmering blue—you wouldn’t guess for a second that she was a Water dragon.
During thunderstorms, you can see her calmly perched atop a boulder, head turned to the skies. Her fur is soaked, her eyes closed, tail flicking gently from side to side. Of course, you’ll need to squint a little to catch a glimpse of her form, because she only appears in the darkest and heaviest of storms, when lightning flickers across the skies like fiery blue tongues and the rain drowns every other noise out.
She doesn’t stay for long.
It is said that when water nymphs leave the Sea, they take on the form of dragons. Pearlcatchers, in particular. Nothing distinguishes them from normal pearlcatchers except for their pearls, which glow in the dark like the fungi of the Tangled Wood and look like galaxies captured in mirrors.
But she is not your average Water nymph. Thunderstorms are dangerous to her; Lightning nymphs do not mix with those of the Water. But she does not care. Danger means nothing. To live on the edge is to truly live.
There are very few things that she fears, and death is not one of them.
