When she joined the clan Ara brought with her a knowledge of metalworking, which she used to craft beautiful jewelry. It was not long before she was approached by Mango, an aspiring warrior, to make weapons and armor. She crafted his vest, which he he wears into battle still. She has become renown throughout the clan for her armor. She also began assisting Mizu and Kaze with their inventions, and although she is slightly disdainful of their more frivolous endeavors, her knowledge of metalworking has become invaluable to them.

Ara is stubborn and fiercely determined. Although she's not a warrior herself, her disposition makes her an easy friend for some of the clan's fiercest fighters, such as Mango and Typhoon. She has also found a steadfast friend in Dune, a skydancer who arrived at Bluebird's Roost at around the same time. Dune's serious, imperious nature and Ara's no-nonsense approach to her work compliment each other nicely. Ember, a scavenger, often brings Ara materials to use in her work. Ara has been teaching her to work with metal as well, although Ember’s interest seems to lie more in making machines than armor.
