no one is quite sure how far Lado's powers extend, not even himself, but his greatest talent lies in the ability to see the Signs of others. Elements of foresight, elements of reading the past, and an ability to see through the gears of time to identify those who were born under the Wheel means there is little that escapes his second sight.

Woke in the desert with no memory of where he had come from or who he was, with Lola at his side in much the same state. He was immediately smitten with her, and knew that together they had a Purpose that must be discovered. They traveled by night to protect her from the heat of the day, until beneath a curved and deadly cliff in an empty region of the Shifting Expanse he found where that Purpose would be carried out. He would gather those born beneath the Wheel of Time, and defend them to his last.
With Lola, he scraped out a rough lair, and a nest, and within a day their lair had more than doubled in size with the addition of three hatchlings - all wandering lost in the desert, all of them marked in the way that only Lado could see. When his own children hatched, the obsidian-dark firstborn was also marked, and he reveled in her - but the others were lacking something, and when they were hardly half grown he sent them away, and they went willingly.
Eventually, he began binding his eyes. He claimed it helped him see. Eventually, he spent more and more time sitting beneath the cliff that sheltered their clan with his face turned up towards it. Eventually, he became more and more difficult to understand.
But still the Signed came, and still he was able to pick them out, and still he offered shelter to Signed and signless alike. He had a Purpose, and he would see it fulfilled.
