Golden-eyed Artemis came from a Light-lair, with a contract that quite established her value -- as much as her glittering hide and shimmering wings proclaimed. Though her ostensible nature is as a scholar, she has a fierce streak...
Indeed, it was that fierce streak that inspired her to stride up to Andromeda, point at a certain dragon who had been displayed with the intent of contracting for someone else's lair, and said, "I want that one. Also, I want to change my smoky markings for runes."
And, well, what could Andromeda do, when confronted with such good taste for such a sparkling fellow? Nothing but hunt down Royal Midnight and say, "That one!"

The first nesting behind them -- after a thoroughly pleasant courting duration -- and Artemis is as smug as it's possible for a coatl to be. (Spoiler: that is very smug indeed.) She has, according to her own estimation, the very best mate. Helios appears to be likewise besotted. It's enough to make all the other coatl in the lair a touch jealous. (Well, save Berenice, who is old enough to be indulgent.)
