Biography
Classes and titles: High Chieftain, Paladin
Pack: Sungathering Friendly Lanterns (former)
Your eyes shine like golden buttons in sunlight.
You have your mother's wingssss, but your tongue is darker in color.
~Ruoko, The late High Shaman
Imperious, noble, kind, but petty, Halti was destined to lead from the day he hatched and now serves the Sunbathers clan as their High Chieftain. He is superior to his chieftain advisors, leader of all the packs, and sole ruler over the Sunbathers Clan territory.
Biography:
Halti was born to a coatl couple Talvi and Hakku. His mother was an excavator and a mining expert, and Talvi an apprentice shaman and a tinkerer. Her efforts for the clan were noted by the High Shaman Ruoko, and the old shaman blessed Hakku with a vision of her future son ruling the clan someday, but in that vision, Hakku herself was not around. Hakku shared the prophecy with her husband, Talvi, before leaving him forever for service of Lightweaver, her new deity.
Talvi was struck with grief over losing his wife, but in his allegiancy to the clan and his superior, Ruoko, he tenderly raised alone the sons Halti and Ahto. It was clear to him, that Halti was the foretold son.
When Tuira's rebels stormed Sandcastle, Ruoko and Talvi took Halti with him in exile, until the peace would return to clan territory. In the rebellion's aftermath they returned, and Ruoko shared a vision with all who were gathered at the beach in which Halti was the clan's rightful ruler. The rebels agreed to this, and in return the previous officials in power agreed to be banished, Ruoko among the others, and she has not been seen since.
The year after the rebellion has not been easy for the clan. Famine and droughts have scourged the Sunbathers wave after wave, and Halti has given his all to be able to feed everybody. His great insight and organizational skills make him a good leader. If not free from throe, the clan has been growing in both population, wealth and culture. Halti has thoroughly reformed the clan's regime and has founded a council of chieftains, positions carefully spread evenly between all the major packs. They aid him govern, each holding a say in the clan's upkeep.
After having ruled for a full year, Halti finally took a spouse, a newcomer, like his parents, to show that the Sunbathers are a clan of diversity, tolerance, and open mind. The male couple is unable to breed, however, which ensures the fulfillment of the prophecy, that Halti's reign will never be a beginning of a dynasty, but a compromise against the horrors of civil war.
Next year however Vitisirppi betrayed his king with a servant boy, leaving poor Halti spouseless and broken hearted. The whole court was profaned by a scandal over Halti's mercy on the secret lovers. Halti hasn't married since, but the court keeps sending new courtiers to him hoping that one day a new love shall spark.
