Lore: "Tempest Spirers are regal dragons who make their home among the screaming storms and technological marvels of the Tempest Spire. They often specialize in the construction, maintenance, and engineering of the Tempest Spire's structures and machinery. In order to withstand their deadly environment, the hides and wings of these dragons are coated with a thin, flexible, crystalline outer layer, harder than diamond, and formed under intense heat and pressure by the fusion of sheets of graphite-like carbon. Since being struck by lightning is nearly inescapable in the heart of the Tempest Spire, these dragons have a variety of ways to expel the excess electric charge from their bodies. Some discharge static from every crystal-covered scale, tuft of fur or feather, leading to the crackling pattern of brilliant arcing electricity. Others develop a circuited infusion on the outer layers of their crystalline coating. Still others possess a series of spines running down their bodies from head to tail, or a super-conductive streak along their underbelly, where static from their body flows and eventually discharges. Some Tempest Spirers are so constantly in contact with high voltage and strong charge of a certain polarity that they essentially gain nothing from discharging electricity. The crystalline coating of these dragons is constantly super-heated as a result, causing heat haze along its surface."
