Risen was born beneath the roiling waves of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, deep down in the trenches, where sunlight never ventured. He was born of the sea and grew by the sea; it runs through his very veins.

As such, when he did eventually choose a life above the surface, he found that he could never truly abandon his home. There were many things he wished to learn about the land, but the sea would always tempt him back into its depths, and he stopped fighting these temptations sooner rather than later. He could have both, he decided, and so he became a fisher.

His decision to join Clan Feldspar came only after meeting June, who told him wonderful tales of the mountains and how kind his village's residents were. Risen had no clan to call his own, as his mother and father had long ago sank into the mud of the sea floor, so the prospect of a new family intrigued him. They were unlike any he had ever known—yet, he found June's company soothing and thought that, perhaps, his clanmates might also soothe his old, lonely heart.

He sometimes regrets ever meeting some of them, but he would protect each member of his clan with his life nonetheless.

His Runes were cast by Thalassinus, quite by accident, and pained him for some time after. Fortunately, June, now his mate, was there to care for him during the worst of his recovery. He has forgiven Thalassinus, but gives the drake a wide berth nonetheless.
