Otis did not grow up in a comfortable home. His clan was in the midst of chaos, falling apart as some rekindled with old homes and others travelled to new flights, leaving Otis alone with barely present parents. Hunting for seafood was a struggle and Otis can always recall how much his body hurt from starvation and stress. His hatchlinghood was travel between coasts and lakes, always hoping to find a home among new dragon folk but always packing their things and skirmishing along territories in hopes of new resting places.

Because of this, Otis learned quickly the value of treasure and various items they could scrounge for during food gathering. Using his sharp mind, Otis became the treasure of his nomadic clan and helped his small tribe-like group keep a claw on savings and invest it in food and stocks. He became an adult before he reached adulthood, using his early gained maturity to bargain and speak with adults to rationalize spending and saving. Once he was old enough, he began running small businesses to keep himself afloat, even after cutting tied with his family and breaching the world on his own. Despite this, Otis never grew bitter or angry, and simply learned that sometimes life was harsh and bitter, and he need not be.

He used his great talents to keep himself fed and happy, and continued to put away his earnings. He learned to be jovial and sardonic, attracting customers to his shops because of reputation and dedication to quality goods, all qualities he withheld in himself. Every promise was a vow upon his life he dared not break, and every friend he ever made a dedicated companion he was always prepared to assist.

Though the world he knew attempted to bury him at every turn, Otis always rose above and took another step in a stronger, better direction. Otis was infinitely patient and understanding, able to size up a drake with a glance and decide upon it if they could be friends or not. His attitude was uplifting and sincere. Otis firmly believes that any dragon given the time and effort can overcome any situation, a saying he repeats wholeheartedly to any of his wonderful clanmates from home.
