Biography
Brought in from an Arcane teacher, Horatia is the matrinch of the clan. She takes care of the eggs for KnifeGuard and teaches the squalling hatchlings whatever she knows. Horatia is a quiet and reserved dragon, extremely humble and with no sense of arrogance. To her, it is a ritual, a way of life. She is well-learnt and cultivated, her presence not spoken but known.
When her services are needed, she takes out her paintbrush and puts on the markings required on the dragon to enter the clan. The ritual is swiftly completed, the markings depending on the status of the young dragon upon maturity. Many a young warrior return to their place triumphant, owning the beautiful circuitry marks that brand the dragon to the clan. Other return disappointed for being unable to obtain the markings that signify their rank in the clan. The more complex the markings, the lower-ranked the dragon is.
Most of the dragons do get markings. The lowest of the castes get the most complex and curious markings, an added humiliation to their entry into the clan. Others...get their marking forcibly removed. Horatia continues to paint those that have entered the clan, whether their allegiance is with them or elsewhere. The Guardian does not discriminate in her work as long as those with her are not malicious to Camelcase- though she has famously marked a certain thief with bright pink markings on purpose.
