Biography
50kt from Chromathesia 4/16/19
Pompeii is one of the only dragons to fight in the Coup and survive, however he paid dearly for his life. He lost his friends and during the battle he lost his eyes. While battling a ridgeback intent on crushing the eggs of one of his closest friends he sustained a slash across his eyes that quickly led to total blindness for him, his friend who battled alongside him was mortally wounded, and even as they fled the battlefield he was fading. He and Pompeii escaped into the thick forest around Capriscen, and Pompeii tried to stop the bleeding and heal his friend, but the Spiral's life quickly bled away into the dirt.
After that Pompeii was left to wander alone, as his eyesight failed him he called for the aid of other possible survivors. He nearly starved before he stumbled upon a few small hatchlings. The dragon caring for them had also been injured and lost her life. The hatchlings stayed close, not understanding that their attendant had passed. Pompeii, in spite of his lost sight knew it was his duty as a guardian of Capriscen to protect the young creatures. He took them under his wing. They helped to lead him, and with their help he was able to hunt for them. He raised them and they cared for each other.
Eventually through some incredible happenstance he came across the young princess, the last of her family and full of grief, fury, and determination. He pledged himself to her and he taught her everything he could. Alongside the other adolescents she grew and changed, and vowed to take back her rightful throne. When the time came he stood at her side, ready to once again risk his life to take back their home.
When they returned to Capriscen however they were not met by the enemies who had taken their home. They would come to learn that though all their enemies had been wiped out, none of their allies who had stayed to fight had survived either. The place had been left abandoned for years. Only 3 young dragons lived there now. A tundra and two guardians, and when it was made known that the little red bogsneak was the rightful ruler here they simply swore fealty and asked to be allowed to remain in their peaceful home.
Now Pompeii is treated as a respected elder. Several hundred years have passed and the Queen is unchallenged, several of the hatchlings who once lived with then have passed or left, but many more have come to join them. Pompeii helps train their many guards, as the young queen has developed a sense of paranoia. Seeking to never suffer such an attack again she is determined to keep Capriscen strong. Pompeii is equally determined, and he is ready to again rise to the challenge should ever he need to join the battle again. Even if he will do it in complete darkness.
