Biography
Ranarr
She enjoys stories, writing, warm tea, foods with a chalky texture, and the occasional restful nap in her gladewalker cape. She has moderate experience with herblore and potionmaking but she is not currently practicing. The clan's alchemical dealings have been passed to Ranarr's hand, everyone trusting her experience over a cauldron to produce the desired results more often than not. She's found pride in being able to help the clan in this small way.
Magebane is an old friend of Ranarr's and he knows her better than anyone else. He offers support and companionship when she needs it, and quiet reminders to care for herself when she clings to seclusion. Ranarr's memories of her past have deteriorated during her treatment, but Magebane is always willing to offer his side of the memory if she needs to ask. He's given her strings of tiny pearls over the years, each of them a physical representation of a memory she may no longer trust the solidity of. They mean the world to her. She gets along well with Avantoe and is forever grateful to him for providing her with a permanent home and food supply. She's fond of most of the lair, although she shows a little preference for Avantoe's spouses and for Cadantine. Her respect for Dolly is great but they are not close.

Ranarr suffers from insomnia, so she is often weary and sleep deprived. What little sleep she does get is usually peppered with endless repetitive dreams, and when she wakes she feels as exhausted from dreams as she did beforehand. She's lost confidence in herself after several attempts at finding a helpful treatment instead caused her years of short-term memory loss, dissociation, and debilitating anxiety and fatigue. She is very tired and is no longer sure if more attempts at treatment are worth the risk to her health and well being. Many of her friendships have fallen apart while she was ill, too overwhelmed to focus on anything more than getting herself through the day. She tries to be kind and understanding but often doesn't have much energy to be as invested in interactions as people desire. A part of her is wistful for the friendly person she used to be, but as time has gone on she's accepted that she is a different person now, and that she will become a different person any time stress necessitates that she adapt in the future. She's not entirely sure how to form relationships with people while also understanding her own brevity, and she is not yet sure if she feels solid enough to try to learn right now. |
