"Hum to me the blessings and dreams you are so scared to say aloud. They will hear you finally."
All he remembers is blinding white. And screams. Oh, how the dragons howled and pleaded for mercy. How they begged for their lives to be spared. And how relentless the blizzard was.

Hymn was saved by the Icewarden. He was shown a cave that he could hide in while the storm raged overhead. He managed to bring his mate and child into the cave with him, but everyone else in his clan perished. No survivors, except for the family of Skydancers digging themselves out of graves buried under fourteen feet of snow.

She left him. His mate, as soon as she reached the surface, fled, never to be seen again. Hymn couldn't dwell on it; he had a hatchling to protect and feed.

He managed to stagger to a neighboring group of dragons, called Clan Frostwalker. He begged to be let in, and was sheltered and fed. He had planned earlier to leave once he and Riven recovered, but they both had grown so fond of the dragons there that they decided to stay. Now, Hymn spends his life glorifying and spreading the word of the Icewarden, ever thankful for the god leading the way to the cave that saved the life of his son, his mate, and his own.

Hymn, above all, is icy calm. He rarely raises his voice, except in prayer or in verse. His gaze always seems slightly subdued and cloudy, as if he is retreating deep within himself so the wear and tear of the real world does not hinder him. His strange tranquility has the opposite effect that most peaceful demeanors have, unsettling many dragons.

A shrine built into the Cloudscrape Crags is where he does the majority of his worshipping. He spends most of his time away from his clan, content to let the few who want the blessings of the Icewarden to come to him. He finds that, in the silence of the peaks, true peace is easy to come across and maintain.

His loyalty is to the Icewarden, first and foremost. He believes that the deity of the Southern Icefield saved his and his loved ones' lives on the day of the blizzard. He has decided to dedicate the rest of his life to repaying that debt.

Although he can unnerve dragons with his fervent dedication to the Icewarden and his serene disposition, he truly is a kind dragon. He wishes to care for his god's subjects with love and care, knowing that the Icewarden would do the same.

Seren shivered beside him, narrowing her eyes against the intensifying storm. Her words were almost lost to the will of the wind, but Hymn managed to catch them. "We need to find a place to go!"

Hymn's eyes were wide with despair. "Our cave is already snowed in. There's no way we can dig it out in time." He lowered his gaze to their newborn child. The hatchling was frolicking in the windy snowstorm, without a care in the world.

She too stared at the little one. Then, she snapped her eyes to his own. "No!" She howled over the wind. "No! We will live!"

Just as Hymn was about to attempt to convince his mate that this was indeed the end, a tree crashed to the snow, a muffled clatter of branches and dead wood. He didn't know why he turned (many trees had fallen to the ground as the storm began to pick up), but he did. He was met with softly glowing ice-blue eyes. They blinked once before disappearing.

Hymn hesitated a moment for steeling himself, then dashed towards where he had seen the tree fall. "Come on!" He called over his shoulder. "I think I know a place we can stay!"
