Long ago, when there were many more stars in the sky, there lived the Children of the Stars. They glistened and sparkled as they danced in the places between planets, sunbathing in the glowing plasma they called home. But their idyllic existence could not last, and after a millenia of joy came a dark time, full of pain and fear...and death. They gathered for one last battle against their great enemy, but the Children lost. They knew they could not flee through empty space, and in one last desperate bid they fled to a nearby planet, choosing to hide amongst its denizens against their foe. Weakened from their long battle, they could not use their magics to protect themselves from the great heat of the atmosphere, and as they fell their old glory was burned away. Their bodies charred and blackened, but their wings - tucked safely behind them as they were - managed to keep all the colors of the stars.

When they finally awoke, they found themselves in a world of shadow and darkness - like, yet unlike, that where they had originated. They banded together to survive, each aching for all they had lost. Eventually the survivors adapted to their new home, and they raised families and grew old. Their descendants flourished for aeons, spreading through the Flight, startling motes of color set against delicate whorls of darkness.

They, too, love deceit and games - and yet, sometimes they’ll remember. They are the Children of The Stars, and as such there is a burning brightness at the heart of each dragon. It is then that they will slip through the shadows they now call home, and spread small acts of kindness in their wake.
