Immature, loudmouthed, and full of brash good humor, Marconi is a willing spelunker whose adventurous spirit often gets him into trouble. However, it is this lust for excitement and ready knowledge of the past that makes him so good at his work. He leads the Clutch's numerous Hunter-Scholars, heading archaeological expeditions to study and re-discover the ancient past.

This insatiable desire to dig 'ever deeper' occasionally puts him in conflict with the more reverent members of the Clutch, especially the Exultant, Darshan. Their distaste for one another is famously explosive.
