Dexter

Dexter was born on a rainy night. The drops hissing in the lava as they thundered down. The sounds of lightning cracking overhead. The wind blowing wildly back and forth.

The elements all influenced the egg, giving the young Coatl severe wanderlust. And so, with well wishes from his clan and family, and his pick of whatever items he wanted from the vault, the young dragon was sent off.

He's begun travelling, and writing notes of his travels. He plans to make a complete hiss-tory of all the dragon lands, and wishes to make friends with all breeds of dragon.

When he traveled into the scorched landscape of the Molten scar, he was greeted by a warrior clan mostly composed of Wildclaws, who were the warriors .Coatls, like himself dwell here too but, they had a different role, which was the cooking. As he was meting everyone a female Wildclaw named Iantus came running up. She had heard that a traveler named Dexter was her, but it was not the same Dexter that had been here once before "You're not him" She sighed sadly and began to turn away. Before she could leave he asked her what she had meant and while she was so unhappy at his arrival. She then explained another by that name, traveled through here, and she had fallen in love with him. "Ah don't mind that old bat" A wildclaw by the name of Mime put a a hand on his shoulder. Come of forget about her, Let's go do some hunting eh?" With that he went with him and another of the warriors. it was great fun but his need to travel soon had him saying his goodbyes. With a wave he took flight to explore the world further

He spent a long, long time in the lair of Clan Valtura. He watched two leaders come and go, and finally a council formed. He watched half the clan succumb to a vicious plague, and even feared for his own life. He'd fallen in love, and suffered heartbreak when she left him without a goodbye to pursue her own ambitions. In the underground depths of the lair, it was easy to forget about the rest of the world. But one day he ventured out of the tunnels and into the moonlight and felt the wing through his feathers. A shiver jolted through him. It was time to leave. (This precious boy has been with me so long it's hard to say goodbye :'( -Remuta)

Although it was sad to leave his companions at Clan Valtura, Dexter immediately felt welcome in Clan Almitas. He and another dragon who had met in Valtura found their way into Feryal’s welcoming arms. He made many friends during his stay, but none as close as the young harpy boy who stopped by every night to hear about his travels. But it wasn't long before he ran out of tales to tell, he took that as a sign to continue his adventure.

Dexter returned to the clan a few months ago, though we have moved from the firey nests where he was born. It's a miracle he was able to find us, though we have been in the Tangled Wood for a long time indeed. We'd assumed our markers of where we traveled had burned up or been washed away by time and weather.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to write until today. The earth has shaken and the clans have shifted, and rumors of a roaming Emperor have put us all on the edge. And just yesterday, the earth groaned again and hatchlings started hatching with strange eyes, and adults found purple vials that changed their eyes as well! Dexter himself drank one for the experience, a habit that is quite prevalent among members of our clan.

Dexter is enjoying the time spent with his family, though even I can sense in him the wanderlust. He talks of the other clans with passion, and he has gifted us with much knowledge and many books from around Sornieth. I know he will leave us soon, just as his parents and siblings know.

Our only hope is that he returns again one day.
