Eiyo, the Nighthunter

The first time Bittersweet saw her, she was half dead, a walking corpse, red eyes dull and dark with wings torn to shreds. She was a Guardian torn from her charge, a failure waiting to be eaten alive in the miasma of the Abiding Boneyard. He took her to their home and she was healed slowly but surely, all of her but her soul and the scars left behind. They named her Eiyo, a word for honor, and her code was that of debt and repayment.
Eiyo swore revenge: the returning of the debt of her charge and her childhood lost to the clan that had slain the one she swore to protect and left her to die in the ruin and rot. The day she came of age, she disappeared, not returning for a fortnight. And then that night she returned, silhouetted by the full moon, a great dark wolf by her side and with a new form: that of a Wildclaw, a creature of the hunt, no longer chained by the need for a charge. Her marred face was covered by an elaborate mask, feathers still stained with blood that was not hers.
On and on she trained and conquested, wiping out the very last of the ones who had betrayed her. She grew to be a formidable warrior. She used her spoils to seek out scrolls of the greatest magic to transform her from a plain Guardian, dull of scale, to a majestic creature that others kneeled to.
But still, she was loyal to the clan that had never betrayed her, staying by as it went through turmoil, moving to the land of Lightning from the fair winds of the Windsinger, watching as the old left for their respective deities and Bittersweet assumed a leadership position, swearing to make them something greater.
She would protect them with her life. Through the whispering tongues and eldritch eyes of the shadows she watched, and when danger threatened the edges of their land she hunted them down, alone.
"I only want the best for my clan," she whispers, standing over a fallen form.
